Bill Clinton Bans Facebook, Twitter Use During Dreamforce Keynote Address

Bill Clinton Bans Facebook, Twitter Use During Dreamforce Keynote Address

Well. He will be labelled as one who does not want there to be TRANSPARENCY to aid the public. That is the label given when reporters want to be in the know to ensure they come out from there with evidence in hand - before anyone else if possible.

Already I've read comments about possible ways to evade compliance with this request. We are or we can be willfully stiff-necked about our druthers on the pretext of wanting the public "to know." No. I suggest in this situation the nay-sayers want to be the FIRST to get the word out, even if illegally, since they are being asked to refrain from using social media reporting DURING the speaker's time at the podium. The agency should band having gadgets for all speakers, which would help anyone who has labored in preparation for the work, and which is no small feat.

It is a sorry state of reporting when journalists fail to see the big picture of media. Who wants to take a chance on having such highly important and intelligent communications as this will be, interrupted by foreign elements and interference, even if so-and-so did it in the past ("last year").

The subject and purpose of this meeting (I suggest) has world-wide importance or they would not be having it. Some journalists' ego-mania will get the best of them, though, and they will probably "disregard" whatever they please. I would not want to miss a word Mr. Clinton (or the other speaker(s) either) will say. He is thorough, and he is an excellent orator.

Now watch the media be plied daily about this requirement. Probably there will be topics on prime time reporting, talk show news, radio stations, etc., unless something truly drastic happens elsewhere. If journalism concentrated more on that word, those who are prone to sensationalism and drama would cease and desist, thereby becoming news reporters again instead of overbearing intruders and actors (I miss the dry (precise) and orderly facts of news I used to delve into when CCTV news was on the air. I could use my own imagination and think for myself more, without having so much to filter out.

Of course, we know ALL media are not this way, including biased among other things. But those that are, are unprofessional. It is amazing. Where media should be staunch in their resolve to report things of utmost importance, they allow for the most part for that reporting to be overlooked, distorted, or compromised in some way.

In this case, the implications of not having media devices in the meeting place is being blown out of proportion at this minute and will probably get more distorted, while suggesting someone be held in suspect for lack of transparency. I believe in transparency, but not self-willed intrusion.

Alaska Sen. Murkowski prepares to claim victory in reelection bid - CNN.com

Alaska Sen. Murkowski prepares to claim victory in reelection bid - CNN.com

It looks like the Palin backed the wrong horse this time. It looks like a shoe-in and a history-making event for the incumbent. The contender, though, is a die-hard and loathes to lose the race to this woman, who it seems, is giving him "a whuppin'.

I say "is" because he has not as yet conceded, even though her camp has claimed the victory. The Mama Grizzly's fangs were not strong enough to wrest the victory from the incumbent's hands. Therefore, she drew three prongs of fire from those opponents (three veins). We'll see how long it takes for Miller to throw in the towel. At least they can console themselves that it is a GOP seat.

KANYE WEST CANCELS UPCOMING 'TODAY' SHOW PERFORMANCE

Good for you, Kanye.  The media has a nasty habit of trying to coerce people into admissions, denials, and confirmations about things they would not ordinarily do.  I suggest that is why these "talk" people like to get their guests flustered, make them nervous, press them with questions like shooting pistols before they get one answered.

This reminds me of another recent episode in which I felt the same thing happened to him.  He was pressed into a corner by the host where he was never given time to finish a statement before being plied with another question, which never clarifies anything anyone is trying to say.

I feel the journalism field is falling down on the job in a lot of ways.  It is as if they are trying to become celebrities themselves.    Journalism used to be more principled than it is today.  It is quite like a drama scene rather than a fact-finding/gathering disciplinary work anymore.

Also, it is deceptive when the subject was about his desire to apologize to George Bush about the Katrina statement, yet the host Matt Laur went and brought another subject (the Taylor Swift episode) from the past.   West is a strong person in his own right.   I admire people who try to correct a wrong publicly with shame.  It truly speaks of a sincere aspiration to right a wrong and go on, even if he was not wrong in what he said about George Bush.

Maybe he was.  Maybe he wasn't.  Bush knows for sure; he said it was not true.  Kanye is sure he needed to apologize, so he did.  Journalism/media needs to be as open and apparent about their motives.

Pentagon Group Finds There Is Minimal Risk To Lifting Gay Ban During War

http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=Aoai10MTgsgOptczN18KpqJzfNdF/SIG=1381ojuin/EXP=1290713805/**http%3A//www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/10/AR2010111007381.html

Okay, that's a large majority of military people who are not horrified  about banning the atrocity (DADT).  Utter discrimination screams loudly when this country (which the present admin did not initiate) accepts military personnel who are secretly gay, yet would FIRE them if they were found out.

If PEOPLE in this country, especially those conservative thinktanks large and small, are so against enforcing gay peoples’ CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, why allow them to serve at all.  If gays did not enlist in the military, some sector of this society, and especially the people who decry open gayness in the military, would be screaming foul, because they are not 'SERVING OUR COUNTRY."   For example, conservatism DID NOT overturn SEGREGATION of minorities from the REST of those military human beings, but fair-mindedness and broad-mindedness did.

This survey shows the MAJORITY of this Constitutional Democracy favors sexual  deviants' rights to be full CITIZENS with no qualifications but those Constitutional ones.  The opposite view is a very hypocritical stance to take.  Further, fair-mindedness is needed to accept it.  I'm for the rights of all people - THIS IS a CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY.   We really need to get past the subconscious (indeed) perception that giving humans their rights is being asked to SLEEP WITH THEM.  God told us to live the Golden Rule, he did not command us to sleep with everybody and their neighbors.  I suggest, though, that one must be sort of, well, liberal-minded for that mindset.

KANYE WEST APOLOGIES FOR CALLING BUSH A RACIST

lhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/10/kanye-west-apologizes-for_n_781655.html

If Kanye needs forgiveness and has admitted he was wrong in what he said (I don't think so), then GB should forgive him.  Forgiveness breeds forgiveness.  Maybe those to whom he should apologize might render forgiveness to him (that is, if he were to apologize for anything).

Deficit panel leaders' plan curbs Social Security - Yahoo! News

Deficit panel leaders' plan curbs Social Security - Yahoo! News

Age 69!!  Some people never live to see 69.  Some are on their death-bed by age 69.  The gvt or someone already gets too much money to waste, since the families of loved ones who die before collecting Social Security (which they have already paid in) don't get the money.  Anyway, that measly death benefit (is it still $255?) is shame, since as stated the gvt already get the dead man's chest.

@American:  It is always easier to blame the people who, like you at some time or another, will need something.  That is, unless you are some rich person talking out of his arrogance.  The people that have the money are those who waste the little man's money.  The poor minimum and/or under-minimum waged workers are the sufferers.  They are also the ones who suffer the most; however, that includes the Middle Class (maybe even more so) who pay the brunt of EVERYTHING.  When it's time for them to retire, there will be people accusing them of sucking on the teats of the GVT, into whom they have already paid their social security funds.

Patty Murray Defeats Dino Rossi In Washington Senate Race

None. Another thing Dem's didn't seem to get is they must do what they did to get these blocks in order to keep them. When someone gives you their all, and you in turn virtually ignore them when they cry out for validation, they feel "deserted." This is the most obviously prevalent issue for this past general election.

One would think that as doggedly as the Repus ran their campaigns and all the BIG BIG money they amassed, the other side should've begun to campaign earlier than they did & to shout louder. They (TP&R) were out to demean a President, not a Congress. Their pressing aim is to get THIS MAN off the plantation, & anyone who overlooks this is in denial big time. The Ruling Passion for the Repus and Tea Baggers if they are Repus(?) is to defeat the Socialist!! Before it's all over, they will be so confounded they will tell it without intending to. Notice that not a word lately has been said about his citizenship. It will come up again when they get it tied in to something else. Anything else.

Since the Middle Class is the backbone of a society, it is truly amazing how they are so shortchanged and relegated to a non-urgent-attention position by most, no matter how much they might lie about it. Those who are for getting the middle class back on solid ground again need to speak up and then do it.
